I was born and raised in Portland,Oregon and traveled all the way down to the University of Oregon for my college years.  After all that NW weather, i was very anxious for a little sunshine so I moved to Southern California where I dabbled in a little acting;  a nurse on ER for the first 2 seasons as a day-player.  There were several other shows including Seinfeld, Melrose Place, Friends, Saved by the Bell, Models Inc, The Cable Guy, and Superman that I found myself working on as well.

I moved to San Francisco in 1996 with my husband-to-be and worked in the financial industry.  In 1999 I was presented with a great opportunity - leaving my job @ Oracle to help start-up a company called Salesforce.com.  This is where I caught my entrepreneurial bug and excitement for starting a business from the ground up.

After giving birth to three kiddos in four years, I came up with a solution to the potty-training blues that we all experience.   Along with the need to offer children support, confidence and comfort while on the loo, I wanted to create a product that would not be in the way for adult use, easily cleaned and space saving.  The Looster Booster was born and a couple other amazing benefits were discovered.  The first being the fact that parents are saving hundreds of dollars by potty-training faster and NOT having to buy those unsanitary little step-stool potties that require CONSTANT attention.  We are saving money and landfills.  Another unexpected benefit that has been revealed is the obvious aid to children with special needs that could use a little help with balancing.

Little Looster LLC was initially a Portland, OR based business but is now located in St. Augustine, FL. I designed The Looster Booster over a period of about 3 years, including the very time consuming "Patenting" process.   Almost every aspect of the Looster's life cycle from birth-of-concept to design and manufacturing was completed by Oregon based companies  and is still MADE IN THE USA.  Now I am finding my way around Florida and working with some great new companies in the SE.  Can you tell that we like to travel?  I have had a great time spreading the word about the Looster to all corners of the US, 17 other countries and revolutionizing the way we potty train - one tush at a time!

New Potty Training Stool Offers Complete Comfort and Support For Little Ones

~ Learning to use the potty is easy as 1-2-3 with clever mom-invented creation~

St. Augustine, FL - March 2, 2011 – When it comes time to potty training, most parents gear up on colorful story books and catchy sing-along DVDs to make the transition ahead a little smoother for their child. Although he or she might learn every word to Elmo's Potty Time, it really all comes down to how accessible and comfortable the toilet is when they “gotta go.”

Fresh on the market, Little Looster is a revolutionary, uniquely-designed potty training accessory that provides the perfect support for little legs and fits discreetly around the base of your Loo. All grown-ups can use the toilet while standing or sitting without needing to move it out of the way. With the Little Looster, parents and caregivers no longer have to clean out those tiny potty chairs or fuss with a step stool that inevitably clutters the bathroom. Toddlers can train to tinkle in the toilet independently and successfully right on the “big potty.”  The benefits of training with Little Looster do not stop there! Using the Little Looster saves both time and money, as parents are potty-training their little ones on average 2 months earlier. That is approximately $175/per child in savings and over 425 diapers that are no longer filling the landfills.

Conceptualized by a mother of three young children, Monica Mylet designed Little Looster  to give all-around support and comfort to kids learning to use the potty. The invention also reduces the “ick” factor that goes along with little hands needing to hold themselves up by touching the germ-covered toilet seat. Thanks to Little Looster, a child's legs and feet are fully and ergonomically supported until the day their toes can touch the floor. With this all-around support, there is no longer a scary feeling of “falling in” as confidence and security creates happy kiddos.  The Little Looster has also been shown to help children with Special Needs, such as Autism,  use the potty successfully as it allows these children, who may have balance issues, to stabilize themselves on the potty without help.

The Little Looster retails for $29.99, and can be purchased online at www.littlelooster.com.

Designed By:

Monica worked with Casey @ Elevation Lab, a Portland CAD designer to come up with the optimal solution.  Monica and Casey worked diligently for over a year to refine the final design.  This process went hand-in-hand with patenting and trademarking.

Manufactured By:

Once the final design was determined the next step was to find the most cost effective injection molding partner to create the mold and ultimately manufacture the stools. After an extensive quote process both domestically and overseas, Beaver State Plastics based in Drain, OR, was found to be the best economical and logistical choice!  Who says you can't cost effectively develop and manufacture a product in the US?  Beaver State Plastics completed its first full production run of Looster Boosters in May 2010.

Fulfillment:

Co-Operations based in Tualatin, OR has joined our team of partners in February 2011 to handle the fulfillment of all Little Looster orders. Growth fortunately had got to the point that we were starting to spend too much of our day processing, packing, and shipping orders. So we turned to Co-Operations to handle that side of the business so we could focus on growing our company even faster.

Website and Graphics:

From there the website was next. For this task another Portland company came highly recommended, Think Brilliant Media Studios. In addition to website design and construction, Dave and Aviv at Think Brilliant developed our graphics as well. They are the guys responsible for what you see and how you buy our Loosters.

Old City Web Services in St. Augustine, FL has become our new web services and graphics partner since moving to Florida. Shannon and Bobby have done incredible and efficient work since becoming our local partner.

Packaging:

Lastly, the boxes we ship our Loosters out in come from a company in Tualatin, OR called Columbia Corrugated Box, www.ccbox.com . We once again went through a thorough quote process and BAM! another Oregon company came out on top.

Although we obviously have a heavy Oregon bias we are proud that every core component of this development and manufacturing process is helping to spur domestic economic activity! Thank you for your support!
